blessing you couldnt live without it

Water is normally associated with blessing, with life.
Such as in water baptisms, christenings, and cleansing and being refreshed. The idea of the washing of the feet, or the face, hands and feet before making a prayer offering. Or the image/idiom of the "oasis in the middle of the desert," as a "saving grace."

However, if you were in New Orleans or Southeast Asia at the time of the disastrous floods, and saw nothing but water everywhere with no means of escape or refuge, you might see it as an angry curse of nature.
