what is the secret to refilling my own ink cartrige, it wont print after i fill it.?

Sometimes when you refill them, you need to reset the printer to think you've inserted a new cartridge. This is printer dependant and the refill kit should have given instructions for this if needed. You don't say what model printer so we can't tell.

Another problem could be that the ink ports on the cartridge have dried out. Use a very small amount of rubbing alcohol to clean the cartridge and see if that helps.
