The English language is one of, if not THE, laziest language of all time. Ebonics is the lack of ability to speak whatsoever, but it's still a form of English.
35,000 is still thirty-five thousand. It's only said from 1,100 (eleven hundred) to 9900 (ninety-nine hundred)

we say both, it doesn't matter
35,000 = 35 thousand. We would say 35 thousand instead of 350 hundred.
If it is a year, like 1864, we will say 18 hundred 64 not 1 thousand 8 hundred 64.
But for when you said 4 thousand 5 hundred, we may say 4 thousand 5 hundred or 45 hundred both work.

Probably because the largest denomination of the US currency is 100 dollars. Thus, 4,500 becomes 45 hundred. Why don't people say 350 hundred for 35,000? That's because if you follow the earlier convension it would be three hundred fifty hundred, but the two hundred being said is just too confusing.

In popular speaking I see it stopping at 99 hundred. It appears burdensome and confusing beyond that when you have to say a hundred hundreds.Mentally add two zeros to the first number in a string (17+00=1700 or seventeen hundred).Hope this helps.

i remember i saw a video of a professor talking about the English language, and i agree with his philosophy that we are lazy! we want to smash our words together so we have less to say. the example he used was about a teenager coming home and his mother had already made dinner.
the boy says, "Jeet?" [did you eat?]
and the mother replies with something sounding like, "Jew?" [did you?]
i know i do this a lot.
i find this true in saying numbers too. why say one thousand seven hundred, when you can condense it to two words?
though, say whatever you are comfortable with.

because u place the comma in between the 1 and the 7 so ppl just say thousand in stead of seventeen hundred
for 35000 if u put the comma in between it becomes 35,000 so u just say thirtyfive thousand

Because most people don't acknowledge the fact that when saying the number 1,700 it's correct to pronounce it One-thousand seven hundred. It's much easier to say 1700 and it has the same meaning. Because there are 17 100s.

We simply don't pluralize hundred, as I believe it should be. 17 times 100. We don't say towards either. Well, I sometimes do, but, oh well.
