When you're around people you will notice that some make you feel energetic, good, while others bring you down and you just want to get away from them. Basically it's instinct. People have auras, for those who go in for that sort of thing, and some people claim they can see them. You are your own meter, if you connect with someone you could say they give off good vibes. If you can't tell then don't worry about it.

When you are in the presence of negative energy you will feel ill at ease. Something will warn you so that you can get far away because negativity spreads like crazy.

lol, negative energy is just a saying. If someone brings negative energy to a group, then they are being negative or bad.

Some people can feel negative vibes. I don't know of any meter, it is just a kinesthetic sense.

They complain way too much and always look at the dark side of things. Instead of making productive comments they do comments filled with anger or sadness.
