Once you have iTunes open, go to File | Add Folder to Library. You can also click on Add Files to Library. From there, you can choose the music files you want to add to your library. iTunes can recognize that it's music, regardless of what the file type is. If the music is not in the correct format, iTunes will convert the music to AAC for you, although iTunes does support the MP3 format (default is AAC).

You're going to have to back up your Current Music collection(Preferably onto a Portable hard Drive or DVD),Install iTunes(Currently Running on version7).
Then Import your Music back into iTunes,attach your ipod and Click refresh!
You're Good to Go!!

Yes, iPods can play your typical MP3 files as well as AAC, WAV, and AIFF formats.
You don't need to buy any of your music from the iTMS if you don't want to, you can import them by CD, or just asking itunes to import songs from a specific folder from your hard drive like... your limewire music collection for example.
And even with some applications, (Like Limewire), iTunes will actually let you access your Shared folder directly.

YES. and the first person who answerd this question was wrong.the iPod can only play AAC, Protected AAC, WAV, MP3, M4A, and Unprotected WMA (which gets turned to AAC in iTunes) AND...if someone tells you that the iPod can play Protected WMA they do not what they are talking about. you can use limewire for downloaing music and videos. its free and easy to use. www.limewire.com , completely free and music + videos are free to

you can import those songs from the folder they're in 2 your itunes library. u press ctrl + O to open it
