After watching DBZ and growing up on DBZ cartoons I have become infatuated with the thought of creating energy bombs with the energy in my body like on the show. Another example is the spirit gun technique from Yu Yu Hakusho. After reading some of Newton's laws on energy I have found that energy is neither created nor destroyed. In real life, would this knowledge hinder the characters of DBZ and make their attack methods impossible? (This is just for fun. Don't leave any insulting posts, please.)

Possibly, but probably not to that scale.

*snicker* I like that you seriously think if something like that is possible...

Anyway, if someone was able to do some trick like that, it surely would be known and people would be teaching/training to do that. I think those wide-spread ideas of telekinetic powers have their sources in some Asian "mind dominates over matter" set of thoughts. Who knows?

Also, you would have to transform energy or (according to Einstein) matter into the energy needed and that would prove difficult. My brain has no power plant ;) and if it had, I'm sure the biggest problem would be *directing* the energy created so that the enemy, not my brain explodes. (If I want to do that, I read yahoo!answers.)

Or it would be a form of ...invisible or very small energy bomb that detonates when at or close before the enemy. Hmm. Still, I would have to assemble it in my body AND shoot it out. (Ever noticed the long screaming and huge mouths of DBZ characters when doing something like that? HUGE BOMB!) And where do I get the matter for the bomb?

yes, those above noting martial arts "applications" are on the right track. if one becomes an "energy adept" through rigorous chi kung training, one can literally knock you over, or by "inserting" the chi appropriately, severly damage internal structures, which could lead to death. the key, of course is the rigorous training, assuming a truly adept instructor is found. beyond this, and thinking along the lines of using chi for healing yourself or others, the study of chi kung, reiki, jin shin jyutsu, etc. brings many non martial rewards, including consciousness growth. such rewards, alone are more than worth the effort. ;-)

Well energy can never be created or destroyed, but it can change forms! So can we POTENTIALLY develope a technology that can change human energy source (ATP[1]) into plasma balls that we can hurl it at people? Yes
Practically? Of course not! A gun is a much better technology anyway that accomplishes the same purpose -- harms people from far away.

Eeyore and Pooh are best of friends so I hope they are always happy. It's probably possible if there isn't any honey left and Eeyore goes ahead and finds some for Winnie the Pooh!

From my own experience the answer is yes.

People call it different things though. Ki, Chi, Psi, Qi, Qui, ect...

In short, yes, martial artists use it all the time.

Yes.

There are martial artists who harness the power of Chi, and by focusing it, they can physically knock you out without even touching you.

I saw this done on the Discovery Channel, it was fascinating.

yes matter is from energy (big bang) so it is logicle that it could go the other way around. though the creators of those shows man not have even used that logic but there is a backdoor to make sence of it.
