Ok, I've been exactly where you are. My freshamn year of college I slept anywhere from 12 to 14 hours a day.
There is something called sleep inertia. Basically, if you oversleep, you become more tired and it gets even harder to wake up. The problem becomes worse the more you sleep.
You need to do a few things to break the cycle. 1) Allow yourself to sleep no more than 8 hours overnight. It will be hard at first, but you need to re-establish a normal sleep pattern.
Caffeine is an ok stimulant, but you may also be having some mood imbalance problems causing the sleep. I would recommend a natural supplement like St. John's Wort, or Fish oil capsules to help with that and Ginseng to help with the low energy levels.
Believe it or not, light can be a factor, too. Buy light bulbs that put off light that mimics natural daylight (they have these at lowe's and home depot). Better yet, put the lights on timers, and let them help your alarm clock. You need to make it difficult for yourself to sleep. If you take this advice and really try for a week, I think you can break the pattern of oversleeping.
for some info on the mood aspect, i've included a link. I know at least for me, when i was sleeping a ton, I didn't think there was anything wrong with my mood. I thought I just liked sleep. Looking back on it now, I just wasn't particularly happy then.

First cut back on the coffee. When the caffine wears off you will get very tired. Your body might resist the effects of caffine. It also makes it hard for you to concentrate. Its may keep you awake but its not preventing you from sleeping hard or napping.
Water is more effective at keeping you awake overall. Make sure to stand up once in awhile. When you feel sleepy stand up and walk around some. Go outside and get some sun every hour. Or sit near a window. The sun will help you stay awake. When you do go to sleep get good sleep. Stop watching TV or using a computer monitor and hour or two before you plan to sleep. Eat some good fruits and veggies! In fact you will need to eat every so many hours to maintain energy to stay awake. Start going to bed and waking up at the same time everyday. Get enough sleep at night. Its ok to take 1-2 naps a day. Only 20-30 minutes at a time. Do not nap after 4pm.
Hot showers will help you be awake. Cold ones will actually trigger chemicals to make you go to sleep. If you need coffee drink some then take a nap. 30 mintues later the caffine kicks in and you will wake up and feel better rested.
The trick to staying awake is to keep the mind busy. If you don't rest well you won't stay up and function correctly though.

Do you have a history of diabetes? Before my doctor diagnosed my diabetes and treated it, I was sleeping ALL the time. Once my blood glucose levels became controlled, I resumed normal sleep pattern. Good luck.
