Is ddr2 800 backwords compatible with ddr2 667? - my knowelege is high, but somewhere in the mist I lost track of the compatibilities issues. I know that during the DDR1 era, DDR 400 was backwords compatible with DDR333, but my system currently runs at ddr400, and I just got a new board, and plan to start getting back into the newest computer era's, and my board supports ddr2 667. (gigabyte iDNA 8-N SLI)

In theory it should work just fine, plus you have that much more head room to overclock it!!!

It will work, it may only run at 667, but it will work. As for getting it to run at the 800 speed, you may have to manually set it to that in the BIOS.
