Hi twiggy,

Do you have a Fabric Shop near you?, they sell a very good range for making all types of jewellery. If not, some large DIY stores have a craft section.

Ebay's the best place, beads tend to be sold singly in shops so work out more expensive. You could also buy job lots of old necklaces in the jewellery category and then cut them up to rethread. You can get all the findings there as well, the thread and end fittings.
There is also a fantastic bead shop in Brighton that does mail order but you have to buy a catalogue.

There are many places. Check links below or do a search for bead or craft stores in your area.

You can also check out eBay, but it's good to do research on the item and know how much it really is worth so you don't over bid or over pay.

You can also check out thrift stores, yard sales, and such for items to cannibalize. Just make sure that you really like the beads and that the beads can be removed.

There were so many woodworking plans with this collection and you will not believe this but there are over thousands plans in the one package deal. Go here https://tr.im/FXgBy
This is really something to find that many all together. For someone like me who is just really starting to get involved with woodworking this was like letting me loose in a candy store and telling me I could have anything I wanted. That was my dream when I was a kid.

Or you can make your own beads from polymer clay (or air-dry clays, or all kinds of materials). If you're interested in making polymer clay beads, check out these pages for lots of lessons, examples, etc.:
