My fathers family is Native American and English, with some German thrown in over the years. They came from England when America was being colonized. My mother's family: my Grandmother was from Hungary and my Grandfather from Germany: they lived in Germany and later immigrated to America when my mother was 5 years old. They immigrated during WW2 because they had hidden Jewish refugees in their homes during the occupation and were wanted by the Nazis.
This is an interesting question you asked.

My mom is 100% German, 2 generations before her came to the United States directly from Germany. My dad is Scottish, and I believe it was either 5 or 6 generations before him were actually in Scotland. Today's generation will be unable to track origins .. :) My kids are part German, Scottish, Italian, Polish, Native American, Dutch, and a tad of french. The days of full blood are over with :). But, that is a good question, because I think I need to do a little family tree thing for my kids, just so they have the knowledge of where they come from.

I'm not sure what the point of your question is but I am full blooded Norwegian. My grand parents emigrated from Norway and my grandfather told me that from father to first born son I am a direct decendant from Eric the Red and his son Leif Ericson. I guess that makes me a Viking king. Isuppose though that it doesn't mean much being a king of a tribe that no longer exists.

the majority of African-Americans don't know because of obvious reasons.
This is what makes it so difficult for young Blacks in America.
We have no sense of our history, and we are largely left out of the history books other than slavery and the civil rights movement. Blacks don't see themselves in history as kings and architects and so on, and therefore think their potential is limited to sports and entertainment.
This absence of history has a profound negative effect on the psyche of a black child.
All that is taught to be successful is assimilation without knowledge of self.
A very dangerous combination.
