My flight from Goa gets to Mumbai at 6pm and my flight to Frankfurt and then back to the states doesn't leave until 3am - what can I quickly see in Mumbai that would be worth it from a tourist perspective? Sitting at the airport for 9 hours would be a real drag, especially since i have another 20 hours of flying after that. Thanks for thoughts.

You need to be at the airport, 3 hours in advance. So, that leaves you 6 hours.

Also, your trip is from Goa so you will end up at domestic airport at Santa Cruz. 6 pm during weekdays is rush hour so be prepared for heavy traffic....

The international flights are from Sahar airport (Chhatrapati Shivaji Airport) so consider around 1 hour travel time depending upon which time you land at Santa Cruz. Effectively, you have about 5 hours max.

Nevertheless, there are so many places to visit in Mumbai in and around airport also.

Spend some time at Juhu beach during evening time...that itself should suffice...beware of eunuchs, goons, druggies, hookers on beach...be around the place where there is crowd....

At Juhu beach, you may want to visit Hare Krishna Temple....

Hang around some movie star's house in Juhu Scheme area....if a big Bollywood fan....Amitabh/Abhishek Bachhan, Dev Anand, Hema Malini, Shatrughan Sinha, Rakesh Roshan/Hrithik Roshan, and more....:-)

Looking for some hot babes at college, then try Mithibai, NM college....

There are good restaurants around Juhu area....if you like Indian food....also can do some window shopping on Linking Road...ofcourse, that will take some time by cab to reach there....

Hope that helps.

if i was you, and this is what i do, i just book in at a cheap hotel, eat ,shower refresh, take a walk around , not necessary in this order, mumbai is a big place , 9 hours is not enough time. just relax, next time you go to Goa , book a two day stop over in mumbai, try gate way of India, and get a ferry to elephanta island. wrong spelling i know, lol,

u really have around 6 hours, ( 2/3 hour reporting for international flights)
You can take taxi & go to shopping mall or Juhu Sea shore.
allow some time for traffic.
