I was during a project about Social injustice and about Racsim and I found out that Latin American still has alot of Racsim. Many of the Black Latinos aren't even considered people in Brazil, Puerto Rico, Mexico, El Salvador, and Colombia. I'm Black and Hispanic myself and I dealt with this sort of racism I been called mayata and muya so many times it hurts. Why is this still going on in this region? There are more than 200 million Black hispanics.

YOu have to rmember Spaniards where just like anyother WHite person back then. THey hated Blacks. Blacks were to be servants and thats it. LOvers too...but thats another story. Even if by some chance there was someone of mixed race, if they were lighter in their skin color they were considered closer to their whiter European heritage and viewed as not so bad. So that hate and constant put downs transferred over into the general population. And lighter Latinos still look down on darker Latinos.

Travel abroad and you will even see more. We have our racial problems in America, but at least we try to recognize them and do something about them. Abroad they don't see them at all or if they do they are just beginning to recognize them. Brazil just recently began an affirmative action program for college admissions. In Europe has the grand tradition of prejudice in the same race just because they speak a different language or have a slight ethnic variation. Really what is the difference between a Slavic person and a Germanic anyway. Little to none. The world abounds with more extreme and unrecognized minute prejudicial differences than are found in this country.

Believe me sister, racism will always exist any place on earth against minorities regardless of their skin color. Whites in largely Black Africa are also discriminated, places like Zimbabwe, Angola, etc. The ONLY TWO OPTION you have to fight racism is, to educate yourself and work twice harder than the majority people, and seek the same job they seek, because in this case they will HAVE NO EXCUSE to tell you that you are not qualified, because you have the same education if not better. If you are denied education, than you don't have much of any other alternative besides organizing a revolt group and wearing a suicide vest and blow up members of the growing generation, so they don't grow and help their people when they are indeed, in this case when the young is slaughtered the old will not have a youngster to take care of them, in terms of politics, economics, etc, and this will result a collapse. Matter fact, this practices exist and people do it.

I suppose it depends on the country. For example in Costa Rica (located in Central America) I don't think there is racism. Black people are in the government, in the arts and in many important positions, although they are a minority in Costa Rica. There is a province, Limón, on the Caribbean side, where most of the population is black and that's were the black people who now live in other cities come from. Originally, they came from Jamaica many years ago.

Yeah, as sad as it is, it's true.

This is mostly done by the light skinned Latinos, though.

They're considered people, but not important... just like back in the 60's and stuff here.

And not ALL of us are IGNORANT, ok. SOME of us hate it as much as you do!

Why isn't it? I can't think of too many places anywhere in the world where blacks wouldn't face racism; but of course it is worse down there; but they are ignorant, what more is there for me to say
