What Does Google Means

A google is a search engine. A googol is 1 * 10^100 (a "1" folowed by 100 "0"s). and a googlolplex is a "1" followed by a googlo of "0"s.

Also, nothing is more than infinity, infinity is an abstract concept. Meaning that by definition you can NEVER have an infinity of anything. Even though we do not have an infinity of anything, we still use it as a concept in math.

i.e. let y=1/x
as x approaches 0, y approaches positive infinity, and as x approaches positive infinity, y approaches 0.

For those who say nothing can be bigger than infinity, there IS a branch of set theory concerned with transfinite arithmetic (which has concepts which are loosely speaking along the lines of "infinity + 1", "infinity + 3", "infinity * 2" etc.).

And of course there's the continuum hypothesis.

But nothing to do with a googol!

A "google" is defined as 1, followed by 100 zeros. It is a really big number. But not as big as a googleplex, which is 1, followed by a google of zeros. I can't even begin to tell you how big a number that is. It might as well be infinity, but by definition, there is no such thing as "more infinite." That is 'infinity + 1 = infinity."

When you put a common word into your google search engine and click return, notice on the next screen how the word Google is now written with many more o's. I think this corresponds with the definition of the word googol, which is a "1" with 100 "0s" behind it.

If im not mistaken. The late Carl Sagan explained on a science show that a man had asked his kid to give him a word. It was for a 1 followed by 100 zeros. The kid responded with "Googol" Google, the search engine is derived from googol.

Great Question.

My grandfather taught me this when I was young: Google is a number that is one with one hundred zeros following it. Yet, this is a lot smaller than infinity. Infinity goes on forever.

Here's what a google looks like:
10,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000

hope this has helped you!
