The printer usually comes with a UBS cord. One end would attach to the computer's/laptop's UBS input, and the other would attach to the printer's input.

The printer will have a cord that would attach to the back of the printer, and the other end will have an outlet that should be plugged into an electrical outlet.

After you have to cords all hooked-up (and if you need help with this, all printers/computers should come with instructions and illustrations on how to hook up the wires--if not, you should call the company so they can send you one). After the wiring's complete, install the CD that comes with the printer in your computer/laptop. After that, things should work fine. Hope this helps!

If you have a desktop computer you can get a wireless router, get that set up and connected to the desktop, and then get the laptop to connect to it wirelessly. You hook the printer up to the desktop computer, install drivers etc, etc, then you run the Network Setup Wizard and at the end it has the option to "Turn on File and Printer Sharing" make sure you turn that on. Restart the computer, go into your printers folder, right click the printer, go to Properties (or sharing) and make sure sharing is turned on. Once you have that done you can go to My Network Places, click "View Work group Computers" open the desktop computer within that folder, the printer should be under a Printers folder. Open that, right click the printer within it, and select "Connect". It may warn you that it's going to install drivers, you must do this to be able to use it. Once that is done, you should be able to go into any application you want to print from and it should be listed under printers. You must make sure both the printer and desktop computer it is hooked to are powered on.

Hook the printer up to a computer located on the network.

Setup the computer for printer sharing through Control panel>>Printers and Faxes>> Sharing...

Configure your laptop to connect to the printer in Control panel>>Printers and Faxes>>Add Printer...

Select the network printer option then browse to the location of the printer.

The wizard will then install the print drivers necessary and the network printer will be in the list of printers displayed during print job configuration.
