This question is for the middle income and poor Republicans in the US . Rich ones need not answer please as I already know your reasons. Now the question:
Besides sending your sons, daughters, brothers & sisters to be killed or maimed in a war we can't possibly win, what has Bush done for you? Why do you think he deserves your loyalty & support?
I'm not Bush-bashing, I'm just trying to understand your way of thinking, so please explain.

I'm with you. He has done nothing but increase my taxes and take away freedoms in the name of national security. I do believe we have to be careful, but he has become abusive of individual rights. And all the tax breaks went to people in his income bracket. We in the lower brackets don't exist to this elitist.

First and foremost he deserves my support because he is the President of the United States. I was raised in a different era where a person took pride in their country and paid due respect to the people who were in charge of leading the country. I was taught that to be a strong country you had to be a United country.

I don't agree with everything President Bush has done but what I do wholeheartedly appreciate is his committment to the people.

I make nowhere near 100k a year but why should that matter in why a person does or does not support our President. It doesn't matter how much money you make. Rich people have the same concerns as I do when it comes to the security and sanctity of our country. What is really scary is the difference between the level of concern and committment to security and sanctity between Democrats and Republicans. I want to be safe. I want you to be safe. Based on how you worded your *ahem* not Bush-bashing question I have a feeling you care more about what political issues succeed, who holds political office than our unity as a country and security are secondary. Sure, you can tell me I am wrong that you care about the security of our country too, but what you don't care about is Unity and we will NEVER have security without unity.

It isn't how much money the Republicans can save me or not. It is getting through these dangerous times with our country strong that I care about.I just don't see the Democrats caring enough to do that.

He has diminished the burden of taxation on corporations that provide jobs to people who are willing to work for a living. Employment and the economy has taken an upswing as a result. Not making +100K per year yet, but thanks in part to his corporate tax policies, unemployment is at an all time low, and companies are again, looking for talented individuals with strong work eithics and providing them with a means of taking care of themselves - so they wont have to rely on a social welfare program to do for them. So how did the 8 years that preceded the Bush administration make your life brighter? And Im very greatful that under a repulbican administration, I have not once in the last 8 years, even been the slightest bit concerned that California would enable "Ebonics" to become considered an acceptable second language.

You keep those loaded, "non-Bush Bashing" questions coming, now. Okay.

Lets break down your tricky question aimed at fooling the simple minded anti-Bush crowd.

This question is for the middle income and poor Republicans in the US . Rich ones need not answer please as I already know your reasons.
Why have you ommited rich democrats?
OH THATS RIGHT, BECAUSE THEY ARE WHAT YOU ARE, A DEMOCRAT, ONLY YOUR NOT RICH, BUT THATS OK. DEMOCRAT GOOD, REPUBLICAN BAD.
Brilliant opening but no logic.

Besides sending your sons, daughters, brothers & sisters to be killed or maimed ( THE PRESIDENT WITH THE CONSENT OF CONGRESS, THE PEOPLE THAT ALL AMERICANS VOTE INTO POWER, SENT A VOLUNTEER ARMY, WHO CHOOSE TO PROTECT YOU AND I WHILE WE SIT SAFELY AT OUR PCs AND AIR OUR DIFFERENCES,TO FIGHT AGAINST AN ENEMY WHO WISH TO SEE YOU AND I AND ANY NON FUNDAMENTALIST MUSLUM DEAD PERIOD!

in a war we can't possibly win,
SOME PEOPLE ARE BEAT BEFORE THE FIRST BLOW IS EVER STRUCK.
YOU AND I KNOW YOU FALL INTO THAT CATEGORY, THEREFORE YOU SHOULD APPRECIATE AND ENCOURAGE THE PEOPLE WHO DO THE FIGHTING FOR YOU.
FORTUNATELY OUR VOLUNTEER ARMY HAS PEOPLE WHO BELIEVE IN THEIR ABILITY TO DEFEND THIS COUNTRY AND DEFEAT THEIR ENEMIES.

what has Bush done for you?
ACTUALLY HE HAS DONE FOR THE WORLD NOT JUST YOU AND I.
HE SAID THE PEOPLE RESPONSIBLE FOR KNOCKING DOWN THE TRADE CENTERS WOULD BE HEARING FROM US VERY SOON, AND THEY DID.
HE SAID THEY WOULD NOT REST, AND THEY HAVEN'T.
HIS POLICIES HAVE STIFLED THE ENAMIES NUMEROUS ATTEMPTS TO CARRY OUT FURTHER ACTS OF TERRORISM THAT MAYBE COULD HAVE EFFECTED YOU OR ONE OF YOUR LOVED ONES BUT YOU ARE TO BLIND TO SEE IT, SO I GET TO POINT IT OUT TO YOU!

Why do you think he deserves your loyalty & support?
FOR ALL THE REASONS I JUST TOLD YOU ABOUT!
ANY MAN, OR WOMAN FOR THAT MATTER, WHO STANDS UP FOR AMERICA AND DOES NOT MINCE WORDS OR ACTIONS WHEN DEALING WITH AN ENEMY BENT ON DESTROYING THE US HAS MY SUPPORT AND LOYALTY!

Now what does it take to get a pledge of loyalty out of you?
A stick of dynamite up you butt and some guy in a turban ready to light it!

I think your missing the point of what it means to be a conservative. Personal responsibility is the key. It may be hard to believe that people believe that they have a responsibility to serve and protect there country men. I don't agree with Bush on most things (I'm not a Republican, just a conservative) but I can respect the fact that he is trying to lead by conviction not by consensus.

This is not just about the war. It is about more conservative values that my family believes in.

And, we certainly make less than $100K, but in the last 6 years, our personal financial situation has improved. Our taxes have gone down, our savings have gone up, we have been able to purchase 2 cars, pay all our bills and save more money than we were able to under Clinton.

My industry, the hospitality industry, has grown tremendously, especially in the last 4 years, and I have seen my clients' businesses (associations, corporations and non-profits) improve dramatically as well.

The Standards of Learning (SOL) scores for my daughter's school district have never been higher, and crime is low in the part of Northern Virginia where we live.

The President, in my personal opinion, is a man of honor and personal integrity, much more so than is predecessor, and he has earned my loyalty and support by his conduct.

This is based only on my personal opinions, and personal experiences. I know that many will not agree with me and I respect their right to their opinions, but that is how I see things.

Bush has afforded me a chance to earn a chest full of medals.

You just Bush-bashed before even completing your question.
This is a winnable war.
Bush has done nothing directly for me, but his tax relief HAS effected me as prices on those items have gone down.
On the plus side, he also has not taken away anymore of my rights through stupid and socialistic legislation. I know I could not rely on a democrat at least that much.

You're not trying to understand anyone's "way of thinking."

You're soapboxing. A prevalent problem in this section of the YA forum.

Listen, you're entitled to believe whatever you like. So are Republicans (whom you seem to have little or no respect for). Live and let live.

Incidentally, there is no draft, and we have a volunteer army. Parents don't "send" their kids to get killed.
