It does bother me when people can't spell or don't know the difference between internet English and proper English. I think that the heavy influence of improper English on the internet is going to make it harder for subsequent generations to have a proper academic tone when they write or speak in academic situations. How can they have a decent understanding or proper English when they're surrounded by destructive media suchas rap and the internet. I didn't mean to go on a philippic about this but the future of English is at stake. It is okay for people to use internet lingo when they're on the internet but they should know how to write a grammatically correct paper.
Not that I really hold it against you but I find your second sentence to be ironic and I felt it was worth mentioning. "Form a proper sentence?" is not a proper sentence. It is a fragment. lol

Depends on the situation... in chat rooms and IMs no way, it could be a mistype and the person is trying to give a quick answer which is appropriate in those situations. If it's in an email, a blog, a paper, or something else similar and it's an obvious spelling error - use spell check! Improper sentence structure doesn't bug me unless it's for school or work, because the rest is meant to be casual.

it bothrz mi wen ppl talk lik thiz. <--- That is so incredibly annoying! How hard is it for people to type out a complete sentence without adding in numbers or taking away letters that mimic the sound of what they're trying to say. If people don't use spell check and make a few spelling errors I don't really care.

honestly, it would bother me in a formal letter, but this is a casual forum, usually filled with people typing out of confusion and anger. Or just trying to answer quickly as to be the first to answer. Cut people some slack on a few errors, i am annoyed by people who think they are cute or cool by intentionally misspelling. Like 3rror instead of error or something like that.
Moreover, i also take into consideration the nature of the question. If you are asking a serious question, take some time, try to minimize errors, additionally, if you want to be taken seriously as a questioner you should take time to do the same.
I am not refering to people asking about celebrity break ups or the latest video games, who cares how they spell. I am talking about people with legal questions or career advice.

It bothers me a lot. Don`t people realize that their questions and answers will be taken more seriously with proper spelling and grammar?

Yeah I have one friend who never uses spell check or re-reads what she wrote to see if it makes sense. It does bother me but as long as I can understand what she's saying I just let it go. I understand how you feel!

Yes it does, although I'm guilty.
But what bothers me more is when people don't read over their questions at all and important words are missing so the question doesn't make sense.

It depends. Sometimes when I talk with my friends on aim it is ok but, when I get answers to my questions and emails than I cant read it drives me bananas especially when it is something I really wanted to know.
