Basicly after the Iraq war, Democrats were labels as "Liberals." Is this because of Bush's speech, "If you are not with us, you are against us." When speaking in a news conference. I think I leave more towards Democrat, but I am not liberal at all. I am a Iraq veteran and have served 2 combat tours as a US ARMY INFANTRYMAN. I would say I am definitely a moderate...... I do not agree with the Iraq war. It hasn't solved anything. I believe in Pro-Choice and against the Death Penalty. I am all about making health coverage in the states cheaper. I am all about Capitalism. I think that if JOE Shmoe works his *** off, he is definitely entitled to making as much money as he wants. Also, the Republican party has way to many Christian Evangelicals. I am a firm believer in the seperation between church and state and I think some people cannot grasp that on the Republican side.

Democrats are not classic liberals. The root word of liberal is liberty. The word liberal was first applied to a political philosophy during the American revolution. The liberals wanted liberty or freedom from the government or the king. A classic liberal is a person who believes there should be no government control whatsoever.
Liberal as applied to the left wing of the democratic party refers simply to the fact that they believe people should have the liberty to make their own moral choices in life, such as abortion and gay rights. The fact that the Democratic party believes in such things as wealth redistribution through government control and other government run social programs actually makes them a Social Conservative party.
This often confuses people. The terms right wing and left wing actually refers to a fork in conservative philosophy, not opposite ends of the spectrum.

Democrats began being labeled as Liberals because it is the far left Liberal wing of the Democrat party that took control of the Party. The more moderate Democrats let it happen. It basically destroyed the Party in my opinion. Which is why I left it.

Bush's claim that "if you were not with us you are against us" had nothing to do with Liberals. It was a statement being made to terrorists and those countries/regimes who support terrorism. It had absolutely nothing to do with any political party affiliation.

Well, Democrats are, traditionally, liberal in their fiscal and social values, while Republicans are, traditionally, conservative. That is the reason for the labels. Of course there are moderates on both sides.

Many democrats share your ideals, you're basically a sprint greater to the left than maximum of them. The democrat party is relatively the socialist party interior the united statesit's purely thinly veiled. p.s in case you do no longer think of that Obama is a socialist, then you do no longer comprehend socialism.
