I can totally relate, johnson says it smells good and for babies however my daughter skin stays dry. My doctor recommened lotions w/oatmeal in them such as eucerin, aveeno w/oatmeal. They work wonders on my daughters eczema dry skin. Since they do not contain perfumes and fragrances it does not dry out. Sometimes I use Vaseline around the diaper area and legs so as to keep soft.
I hope this works. Also when bathing the baby I recommend Dove white soap it is so soft on her skin and non irritant not like the baby soaps that dry her skin. I know I have had 3 kids w/same problem. See if the Pediatrician can give you some samples to try out on the baby.

I'm so excited that you asked this!!! The reason that Johnson's (or nearly any other OTC lotion) isn't working is that it's based with mineral oil. Mineral oil is actually extremely drying to the skin. It clogs pores and acts as though the skin is being wrapped in saran wrap! It has been shown, by scientific research, to be the second most aging thing to skin, the only worse thing is the sun. What you need is a lotion that is natural, and contains no mineral oil. Check out the baby line called ABC from Arbonne International. You can find it on the web. It's a little more expensive, but it's concentrated, so it lasts forever, and it actually works, so you don't have to use a ton of it. The body oil from that line is great too, especially since OTC baby oils are PURE mineral oil, and this one is natural oils. It also contains NO nut oils, as nuts are a common allergy.

I hate to say it but the Johnson and Johnsons we've known for so long is for fragrance only. I use Dove soap because the pH balance in J&J is too high. It just makes their skin more dry. It has the same pH balance as a perm. It has too many alkalines. Also I use Eucerin lotion.

I do not have that problem but my friends baby does and she uses NIVIA very dry skin I know it is not a baby lotion but she said that it works wonders. You can try it if you want It is pretty gentle and she has never had problems with it.
Her baby's skin was so bad it would crack and bleed

If the Johnson's baby lotion isn't working, then you might call your baby's doctor and see if there's something they can prescibe or something they can recommend
