I would wait for the D&C. I have heard too many times about women not being able to hear a heartbeat..even with the transvaginal ultrasound, but then later on hearing it. I read a questions like that earlier too. That they couldnt find her babys heartbeat for a week, but then the next week it had a heartbeat. So you never know. I havent ever heard any of my babys heartbeats until I was around 12 weeks. That was with all 4 of them. I also lightly bled when I was 7 weeks with my 3rd baby and turns out everything was fine. Hope everything goes ok with you. Just tell the doctor you want to wait and see to make sure.

Natasha, I have been in the medical field for some time now and I can assure you that Dr.s don't make a habit of making mistakes like that. That would be a terrible ordeal no to mention a hell of a law suit. I can comfortably advise you to follow the Docs direction. At 10 weeks pregnant (8 weeks after implantation) there would Be a visible heart beat even if it cant be heard via ultrasound. I am soooo sorry for your loss, but I would definitely take care of your situation immediately to prevent any future problems with conception.

I had very recently had an internal scan at 9 weeks an the baby had no heart beat, 9 days later Its horrible as I was waiting to lose it naturally but knowing that your baby is not alive inside you is very upsetting.

I've just had a scan today, i'm supposed to be bought 10-12 wks but the baby is only measuring 8wks and they can't find a heart beat so they have booked me in for a internal scan in a weeks time. i'm hoping and praying everything is alright but at the same time i dont want to get my hopes up. hope everything is ok with you. best wishes x

Did they do an ultrasound on you? Usually it is difficult to hear a heartbeat at 8 weeks, but if they do an ultrasound, they can sometimes see it beat. If you had a miscarriage, you would NOT have light bleeding. You would have heavy cramping, back ache and blood like a very heavy period. The body naturally would reject it if it had died, and go through the process of removing it from your body. I would get a second opinion for sure!

It's hard to say for sure because you didn't mention what they used to check for the hb. If it was a regular doppler it usually won't pick up the hb at that stage, and sometimes the abdominal ultrasound won't always get through. A vaginal ultrasound is usually the most accurate, but not always used. You may just need to wait and see what happens. Doctors can be and are wrong on occasion. Don't jump to conclusions until you know for SURE what is going on or it will drive you crazy!

they can be wrong but I don't think so.

I would ask for an trans vaginal ultrasound.

Don't do a D&C unless you know for sure in your on mind because you will always wonder!

You can also say you want to let nature take its corse and if it is a M/C then you would go through that at home. If your bleeding and baby has died then it sounds like your trying to M/C now!

Im sorry hun, I wish you the best!

This happened to me. I was 9 weeks pregant and they said my baby was only 7 weeks and there was no heart beat. I started to bleed badly and had to have a DNC. I felt terrible and cried for days, so I know what you are going through. I'm really, really sorry but if they couldn't find a heart beat then there isn't one.
Different friends tried to give me reasons why this happened to me and none of them made me feel any better. I couldn't believe that I would one day be a mum but it did happen and now I have 4 healthy children. My thoughts are with you dear. Life will go on and one day you will hold a lovely little baby of your own.

it may still be early to hear the heart beat what they should do is an internal ultra sound, this way they can SEE if the baby has a heart beat. If they baby did infact die they will have to do a D&C Good Luck and insist on the internal ultrasound.
