And before you start thinking I'm a satanist or that I mean to offend you, calm down. I'm not.

I'm not talking about the satanist or devil related kind of darkness. I'm talking about the conception of darkness as in seductively evil, mysteriously evil or devilish... You know what I mean? There's something appealing about this whole concept, What is it?

I'm not sure I get what you mean, but in a way i do. The idea that darkness is evil is appealing because of the power it weilds. In the darkness people can be who they want to be, it hides a multitude of sins. That's why it seems seductive and mysterious. It has a weird sway on people. Inhabittions lessen and people find a magic in the darkness. Personally I love the darkness because it's harder for eyes to find me and see the damage! But not because it's "evil" in any way.

I think that all of us would like the chance, just once in our lives, to act without thought of consequences. Hence the seductiveness of the dark side.

Some people define good vs. evil as generosity vs. selfishness. While the 'darkness' as you describe it probably isn't just acts of self-indulgence, I think that's part of the culture. When you think of darkness, you think of pleasure, power, and pretty much getting your own way. I think humans have a natural desire for these things.
