If they aren't vegans then they're total hypocrites. I'm so tired of seeing scenester types wearing trendy suede shoes, talking about how cruel fur is. If they could afford it I bet they would wear it too, and somehow justify that. I'm not into fur, I don't own any, I don't think it even looks good most of the time, but animal rights activists are total morons sometimes. I have yet to meet one who is sane and logical. I don't see any real difference between eating meat, wearing leather, or wearing fur. People who say that it's "less of a waste" to kill the cow, eat it, and wear it are totally missing the point. Does it really matter if the animal was killed for its meat or its hide? It was tortured and killed anyway. Our society is the most wasteful one on the planet. An animal's corpse will at least rot naturally, and not harm the earth. And people don't even eat all of the cow. They kill it to selectively eat the good meat.

kungfu...

Animal welfare is different from animal rights. PETA and most animal rights activists are asking for animal liberation. They are being unreasonable. I support animal welfare but animal rights activists frustrate me. Many of them are hypocrites. The point is that they shouldn't open their mouths if they haven't committed to a totally cruelty-free lifestyle. They've set things up against themselves-- if they weren't so unrealistic an unreasonable they'd have more supporters, they'd be helping animals more (instead of exploiting them), and they could give their opinion without looking like a hypocrite. They only become hypocrites because they keep judging others.

Animal rights activists are not just the people who are against eating meat and wearing fur. They are everyone who loves animals and wants better for a dog, cat, horse, or any animal than to be beat or neglected by their owner. Anyone who thinks that is not okay for little boys to skin cats for fun is for animal rights. Anyone who has picked up an abandoned animal on the side of the road or bought an animal from a person they know is abusing it are for animal rights. I am not saying that some slaughter houses don’t torture the animals before they kill them. Some do. If all of them killed the animals that come through quickly and cleanly there wouldn’t be so many videos of the animals being abused, so many laws, or so many people that hated the slaughter houses so much they decide to become vegetarians. But the people who say animal rights activism should only be for vegetarians or vegans are wrong. They don’t really know what animal rights are. Do you really think all of the laws against animal abuse have been thought up and put into effect by vegetarians? Do you really think vegetarians are the only ones who don’t want to see horses beaten over the head with a 2x4 or die of a broken neck because some fool roped a yearling around the neck in a stall and wouldn’t let go of the rope when the colt freaked out and started slamming into the walls of the stall. I saw the latter and been around horses whose previous owner has done the former, but some people would think me a hypocrite for wanting better for these animals. Think again.

Yeah, hells angels? haha...That might be the last thing you ever do. I don't support the throwing of red paint on anyone (though I like the thought). I believe it's more effective to get to the source, the creators of these jackets than to terrorize the owners of them. At the same time I have no problem going up to a fur/leather wearer and telling them my thoughts about their fashion choices. I try to be reasonable but I always get a feeling of annoyance at the pit of my gut because it's so selfish to me that these people have non cruel options, yet they choice to inflict needless pain on animals. I have no problem telling people that, no matter what the consequences are; it's my moral obligation as a human being to the animals.

I actually agree with you. If people are going to be animal rights activists at all, they should be pure vegetarians!
I am somewhat for animal rights, but i keep my big mouth shut because it makes me sound like a hyporcrit unless i'm not eating meat.
You are right about the fur too, it's no different than eating meat. No one needs meat to survive, we just choose to because it tastes good.

I am grateful that there are people who make it a goal to protect animals. I personally do not wear real fur or anything, but it is a personal choice.

That said, if some crazy dumped paint on me and called me names, I'd knock the B#$%! out. NOT cool

you know what's even more hypocritical about them?

they don't have a problem with leather.

they find it easy to harass wealthy old ladies by throwing paint on their fur coats. yet i'd pay money to see them TRY to throw paint on a biker gang's leather jackets or chaps. or on their motorcycle's saddlebags or leather seats.

to each there own! unfortunately activists don't think so. However, who is going to save the furry little bunnies if they don't?
