How did Flea (Micheal Balzary) of the Red Hot Chili Peppers get his name "flea"?

I'm most likely wrong, but I think it's cuz he kinda looks like a flea.

he had a case of the crabs he got from a skanky groupie...and the name crab didnt have the same effect...so they called him flea
