A generalization is a statement the says all of a certain type of people or thing do or are something.

EX: "Black people like fried chicken." or "White people are racist." or "Fruitcake is disgusting."

These all attribute a certain type of characteristic to a certain type of person or thing.

A stereotype a set of generalizations about a certain type of person or thing. A stereotypical person or thing embodies all generalizations made about their type.

Ex: That guy is a stereo typical Asian, he' smart, he mixes up is l's and r's, he eats lots of rice and wierd stuff, and he has a small ****.

To be stereotypical the person or thing must embody all generalizations made about them. Just because a certain black person likes fried chicken, that doesn't make him stereotypical.

I hope that helps and I don't mean anything said in thing examples to be true, they are just common generalizations.
