That's what my husband & I have chosen to name our son. He'll be here in about 5 - 6 weeks. Harriman (pronounced hair -a - mun) is a family name. And we've always liked the name Nathanial, well I like Nathan better. It's normally spelled Nathaniel but that's too many vowels for me to remember! And since he'll go by Nathan, we will still be able to find things with his name on it. My sisters and cousins have decided that they will call him Nate Dog!

We are definately naming him Nathanial Harriman, but am just wondering what people think of it.

My husband's middle name is Harriman and when we were dating, he didn't want me to know it. Once I knew it and everyone else got to know it, we all love it. It's not a name he'll tell most people.

As for Nate-Dog, it sounds very similar to our last name. So it really does flow and you can't tell much difference if you say his name fast.

I think that the name Nathanial is a great name, very strong! I like the idea of using the family name to carry on the tradition! Congratulations on your baby!

I like the Nathanial part. Most likely he won't be teased too much for that. Harriman? I bet the boy won't let anyone know what his middle name is, will insist on his initial being used, instead.

Nate Dog? Where does that come from? I'd tell those relatives to lay off!! You can insist that they knock off with the nasty names. Why would they do that to a baby?.

I named my son Nathaniel. That's what I normally call him, occasionally, Nathan. I couldn't stand all the people that decided to call him Nate or Natty. In high school he was cool coz they started calling him Nate Dog. But, Mom still calls him Nathaniel or Nathan at the very least. One set of his grandparents used to call him Nate Baby and he was only about 3 and he said, my name is Nathaniel, not Nate Baby.

I think that it is a very strong name. It does have the feel of a family name and I love the name Nathan! My nephew is Richard Nathan and they call him Nathan. I call him Nate-Nate though! Just keep that in mind, that there will be lots of nick names for Nathan, Nate, Nate-Nate, Nate-Dog! :0)
