i had a coach who once gave me a very helpful tip (which you may or may not know): NEVER look up from the water... when doing the pull-out, many people tend to look up, most people actually... DONT DO THAT! Always keep your head down. It saves you a bit of energy, and it kepps you streamlined. Also, I do a bit of a dive in after each pull out. So i pull up, dive under a bit deep, kick up, pull out etc. If it's your turns just practise them! Practise will help a lot!

I'm a freshman in high school and a 1:10 breaststroker. I train for breaststroke in many ddifferent ways.

*Strong pullout:: The one flutter kick added to the pulout is very helpflu so make the most of your pulout and go as far as you can
*Quick Hands:: On your turns have your hands touch for no more than what feels like a millisecond, immediately pull that hand off the wall
*Practicing:: It's proven. How well you do in meets directly shows how much you've practiced. You can't expect to just jump in the pool after two months and swim amazing

Hope I was a help ;)

Use a pull buoy and look down at the bottom of the pool as you swim the longest stroke possible.
this will train the side muscles much faster than just swimming the whole stroke.
then use your side muscles more when you race a you will see a quick improvement in your times.
Good luck.

your pullout is the fastest thing you can do when swimming. make sure its strong...i agree with Lauren Ann...the extra dolphin kick helps. just make sure you know how to use it correctly. it doesn't help if you don't do it right
always concentrate on swimming towards the wall. throw your arms forward..not down. don't pull back. focus stretching your stroke out and glide for awhile but not too long.
use your kick...you should have strong legs.
and also visiualize yourself swimming breastroke fast. your mind is very powerful and use it to continue to be strong physically and mentally. you can do it!

your splits should be 37 and 39 if you go 1:16. make sure your knees stay inside your hips and the kick is solid. the pull should not stop in front of your body, it should be one complete fast stroke and a faster recovery.
