At 22 weeks I was almost exactly 5kg more than my initial weigh-in. Sure you've gained half of your weight already, but you're also just over half way there. As long as you're getting the other nutrients you need, and the doctor doesn't say anything about you gaining too much weight, you should be fine.

11 kgs (or 22 pounds) is the low end of the normal weight gain. Some women gain more--some less. A lot of doctors now have really stoppped worrying about weight gain as much as the over all health of the mother and baby is paramount. Obviously if the weight gain is sudden and a great deal, then the doctor will worry, but if you are 10 or 15 pounds more than "you should be" don't worry about it too much.

As for craving sweets a good way to deal with that and get good nutrition is to eat fruit, yogurt, or other healthy sweets. For example a graham cracker and yogurt with fruit on the bottom is a healthy and sweet snack. Occasional sweets like chocolate or cake are allright if eaten sparingly, because those have empty calories and not a lot of nutrients for you and baby.

Hope this helps.

Everyone gains weight differently during pregnancy. 5 kgs in 5.5 months is not that unusual. 11kg is actually at the low end for a "normal" weight gain... Most experts recommend 11.5-16 kg for women who were at a healthy pre-pregnancy weight. Just make sure you're eating a balanced diet. Don't overdo the sweets! During the second half of your pregnancy you should increase calories by about 300 per day. You will have an increased need for most nutrients, especially protein and iron. Keep healthy snacks on hand for when you feel like you can't stop eating. Chopped up fruit or veggies, raisins and crackers with peanut butter are pretty quick and easy. Also, try to eat something from each food group in every meal and finish with a small treat. Hopefully that will satisfy your cravings!
