As long as your foot is not on the accelerator. If it is a stick or auto if in neutral watch the rpm's on the tach. It makes some difference. Do not tromp on the gas when wanting to accelerate.

The distance you would need to coast to really save anything in gas would have to be measured in miles, unless you are driving downhill for a very long way you wouldn't see much of any savings.

You should but not that much, besides wouldn't tear your transmission up in the long run? If its an automatic that is, all that switching from drive to neutral and back can't be good on it

You may be able to save a little gas but sensible driving tells you not to.

you will save gas but there is asafety issue involved what if you need to accelerate to avoid acollision,what if youre engine dies

no and you also lose control of the vehicle a car has to be under power to have contol(why you speed up a bit in curves on the highway)
