I would like to find out more information about this accident as he lost his life trying to save his workmates,and yet he received no recognition for his heroism,a fact I am trying to remedy

You may have found this source yourself, which it appears to be the best on Ponthenry Colliery. However, it doesn't give the information you require, unfortunately. Have you tried Carmarthenshire County Council archives?
