Painful as some pasts are they r unfortunately part of who we r today. What u make of urself depends on what u went through in ur past bad or good. I used to live in the past constantly and I could not enjoy what the present and the future had for me. Depression set in so bad that I attempted suicide several times before realizing God needed me to be here for u today and others like us who indeed suffer from living in the past. U must attend weekly therapy sessions to get to know urself better and release those demons that haunt ur present day. Volunteer at a homeless shelter or at a batter women's home see the abuse or neglect and pain in others and u will realize that u r not alone. Help others with ur experiences and they will help u grow before u know it. God Bless and I pray a speedy recovery from the past into the glorious future awaiting u. Life has so much to offer us when we allow God to take control.

It is not possible to erase the past. It is only possible to embrace the past. Look at it, accept it and realize how it has helped you to become the person you are today. Live in the moment. Look around you and be thankful for all the positive things in your life right now. If you are focused on the now, there is no way to dwell on the past. It is a constant battle at first, you have mental habits you must break. Eventually you will learn to refocus your attention.

It is not possible to erase the past. Embrace it, learn from it. Then move forward. Take what you need from the past, and use that knowledge and experience to make a better future for yourself. Learn from the past, but always try to move forward and be better.

from a person who has overcome a lot in life, i can tell you that you're not going to "forget" the past events in your life, but you can overcome what's happened. get into therapy, or get some self-help books...eliminating self-defeating behaviors, and what to say when you talk to yourself are 2 good books to start with. robin norwood has written some really good books too. we all have "tapes" running in our heads. the trick is to "record" new tapes so that you don't wind up living a "self-fulfilling prophecy." give yourself positive messages every day...even if you have to write them down on note cards to read. read them out loud to yourself...the brain gets the message more effectively when it hears it spoken. don't let anyone drag you back into the past!! you have to get a tough attitude about those kinds of ppl in your life. remember that "misery loves company!!" you can get over anything. set small goals for yourself, and reward yourself when you accomplish them. you can do this!! take care, and very best of luck to you.

You can't erase the past but you can learn from it. The past is cruel, so learn from it and turn your future into a better place for you to live.

no erasing the past is impossible - the past tells you who you are!
you must concetrate on the now;
if you're with friends do you always talk about the past?
do you never do anything funny that stays in you mind?
of course when you've done something cool five minutes ago and you tell someone it's already in the past, but things you've done 20 yrs ago aren't important anymore.......

No...you can't erase your own memory....you'd be suppressing it if you did, and that's NOT very healthy. There's probably a deep emotional reason you're gravitating to your past that may not even be crossing your mind on the concious level. Talking to a psycho-therapist would be your best option.

Why may you want to erase your previous? it truly is area of who you're on the instant, good, undesirable or detached. a extra perfect answer is to study the activities, study your reaction, study the teachings which have provided themselves, and then forgive your self or others. "life is what occurs once you're making different plans."
