American Racism? Considering my background...would the seven course dinner you offered me be...A six pack and a potato? If two white athletes refered to each other as "cracker, honky, white bread" would you think that was an issue? If I was so weak that all I wanted to be was a victim I could fantasize a thousand excuses also! Hateful demeaning words/thoughts only have power if you let them...Or use them as an excuse, crutch, or worse...a biased weapon in the attempt to gain moral superiority by employing the same tactic.
Define first for me the American "race"!

No.

I've traveled all over the world and I believe the USA to be the most racially divided country I've ever been in.

There are parts of the country where the police will pull over a black person driving in a "white" neighborhood just because of his skin color.

There are neighborhoods where an American Indian cannot rent an apartment because of their race.

There are neighborhoods where someone who only speaks English will be confused because all the signs are in Korean or Spanish.

The races tend to live separate, parallel lives. And until this changes racism will never die in America.

The only part of the USA that is working towards true integration is the Armed Forces, and they aren't perfect and have a whole other set of problems.

Unfortunately, I do not believe it would go away. I think that people are liable to pick something out that is different about others and use that as a basis for hatred. This could apply to having red hair, brown eyes, or skin that has a different shade than that of others.

Racism does not arise from racist language. Racist language arises from racism.

Until humanity is able to rise out of the pollution of hatred in general, I don't think we will stop experiencing hatred for any reason.

With all that said; I think that a good starting point would be to remove the artificial separators that exist between the various groups in our respective societies. Remove the hyphenation and just be an American. Affirmative action creates division where there may have been none...eliminate it.

Booker T. Washington once said, “No man, who continues to add something to the material, intellectual and moral well-being of the place in which he lives, is left long without proper reward.”

He also said, "I will permit no man to narrow and degrade my soul by making me hate him."

I think both statements apply here.

There is another quote from him, and I'm not sure if I'm understanding it correctly:

“We do not want the men of another color for our brothers-in-law, but we do want them for our brothers.”

As I read it, we should not seek to blend to the point where we would just intermarry, but that we would see all people as our brothers, sisters, mothers, and fathers...for don't we all share the same Father?

I think that all those labels need to disappear because they are dividing us as a nation. I want people to recognize that PEOPLE ARE JUST PEOPLE. there's good people and there's bad people and that's really the only thing that matters. Not race, not religion, not gender, not sexual preference, not even polical leaning. You're either a good person or not. The rest is meaningless.

No. Because you'll always have FEAR. And fear is the backbone of racism. The N word has nothing to do with it.

Racism is all in people's attitudes. Unfortunately, there is no way to change it other than to change people's attitudes which is up to each individual.
