Hey, Moll, good question!!
I started out to be an English major with a psychology minor in college. Listened to a "silver-tongued devil" and quit school to marry him (that was my 1st stupid move. Didn't get my degree - my second stupid move).
Worked in a law office as a librarian and loved the work. Got preggers and quit to be a mom. Loved the work.
After 26 years of marriage (the silver-tongued devil didn't want me anymore, he wanted his best friend's wife), we divorced. I got myself back into college. Two kids to raise and I knew the stinker would not be regular with child support, so I needed a career FAST.
Got into paralegal training and got my degree - with honors. Loved the work!! Went back to school and got my computer network technology (Cisco certification) and loved the work, but didn't use it long (bottom fell out in the computer industry).
Finally married again (took seven years before I would even consider dating), continued to work as a paralegal. New husband was in auto finance, but was tired of working at car dealerships with all their "cheat everyone" attitude. He went back to school for training and certification and located a job in the home mortgage field as a loan officer.
I suggested that with my background in bankruptcy field, maybe we could do something to help people in bankruptcy. We researched and since that time, that's what we do. We help people in Chapter 13 bankruptcies to get out of debt early, get a new home loan, clean up their credit, and pay off their bankruptcy. It really helps people who have had some bad breaks in their lives instead of kicking them when they are down, like most companies do. We love the challenge and helping people to get a new financial start. I went back to school a fourth time, and now I have my loan officer's license, too.
Sometimes, we make a choice of a career and it turns out to not be the best one. If you really want to do it, you can make changes and "fine tune" your choices as you go. This is what I did. I love my work and no matter what I make dollar-wise, I am a success at what I do because I am happy to go to work each and every day. (Thanks for letting me brag a bit) I hope your choices are as gratifying to you. Good luck!

I'm a highway maintenance worker.I fix potholes,weed-eat ditchlines and pick the dead animals off the roadways.
It sucks.
I should have went to college and became a police officer, firefighter or joined the marines when I was still young enough for it to pay off....
If I could choose a career and pay wasn't a factor it would have to be cemetery security guard. The customers are layed back and not to rowdy and don't complain.

I used to be in management for McDonald's. I did enjoy that, especially interacting with the customers. However, I decided I wanted to help people in a better way, some way that they really needed. I am now an EMT working for a small fire company ambulance. I plan on starting nursing school soon. I love what I do and I am looking forward to the challenge of nursing.

I work in a cold storage facility [maintenance department] I get to use my hands and my mind together. I enjoy what I do because I like it and dew to the people I work around. If I did not enjoy being around y co-workers things might be different. If I could go back in time I would enjoy being a school teacher.

Still in school for International Trade but I started working at home through a great business I found. Couldn't be happier now, and I probably will never use my degree once i'm done.
