It varies from city to city. The more major the city the better the price you will get. I sold to American Iron in Minneapolis for years. They have access to the railroad and also river barges on the Mississippi. For this reason you would get much more there than you would in a smaller city where they would have to pay trucking to get it there. I have sold it for a little as a few cents a pound to up to 40 cents a pound. It varies a great deal with the market. The price you get today you may not get tomorrow. If you sell it regularly keep track of the prices and as they start to drop a little sell what you have.

It very much depends on the type of stainless steel you have and how much of it. And in any case, it will come to not-much in the weights you are contemplating. The range in the US is from less than $0.25 to no more than $1.00/pound or about $0.60 - $2.20/kg *delivered* to the scrap yard. And that, again, depends on the type of stainless. Scrap mild steel runs an average of $0.40/pound ($0.88/kg).

It depends on the area you live in. Call a scrap yard, or better yet, research on the Internet
