How are galaxies formed? Is every galaxy form the Big Bang, or do they form the remnants of other galaxies, or even black holes?

I'm only looking for scientific based responses.

This is actually an area of current research. Galaxies formed about 10-100 million years after the Big Bang, but we don't know whether they formed from the 'top-down' or from the 'bottom-up'. In other words, were there large masses that broke up to form stars or were there small groupings of stars that merged to form larger galaxies? The latest evidence seems to suggest that stars fromed before galaxies and that larger galaxies formed by merging smaller galaxies. But the jury, if you will, is still out on this one.

We do know that our galaxy is in the process of breaking up some smaller galaxies and merging with them, so we know that galactic mergers happen. We are just not absolutely sure that this is how the galaxies originally formed.

I have it in my ideas that there are (a minimum of) 2 causes. (a million) once adequate gas (and mud, yet almost continuously gas) collapses right into a respectable ball, it ignites in fusion reaction. the nice and comfy temperature given off from this pushes a lot of a few thing of the gas away. (2) it is more advantageous major than reason #a million. The galactic cloud has a lot of non-uniformity in it. some places are denser than others. in truth, the dense factors are scattered round with virtually a similar distribution because the celebs we see now. This video shows very few stars being formed, so its not truly a style for an entire galaxy. although this is going to, i wish, grant you with a contact.

Current belief is that they form from huge clouds of dust and gas which are left over from the big bang and from collisions between other galaxies and/or suns, etc. within a galaxy. Dunno about black holes, but it -is- currently thought (but not yet proven) that the center of every galaxy probably contains a black hole.

Its one of the latest analysis of galaxy formation, and discusses several theories.

Currently this remains an area of debate.
