Of course, mimes "can" talk. It is just that silence is part of their art.

If you see Mel Brooks' "Silent Movie", the only spoken line is by the most famous mime of all time, Marcel Marceau, who says, "No." (That's the joke, see, the only spoken line comes from a mime!)

I mimed back in high school with a group, and it is just part of the rules of pantomime. One I wanted to break alot(I am a talker).

its their job to act out whatever they are doing without talking as a way to entertain their audience, kind of like charades
