"Give away" can mean distribute.

However, when we talking about giving money away, we are usually talking about charity or helping someone else (perhaps a friend or family member). Who the money is given to is either implied or infered.

I guess that you *could* restate "Do you ever give your money away" as "Do you ever distribute your money" but it would sound ackward in English. The sentence sounds incomplete. Distribute where? Distribute how? Something given away can be given all to one person or organization. "Distribute" generally means to divide between a group, so it begs the question of *how* it was distributed.

It also sounds more formal than most English-speakers use in everyday conversation. As such, its more likely to be *written* than *spoken.*

I hope that makes sense and I hope it helps you.

When I give away money, it is usually to one person/group like a guy on the corner. When I distribute money, it is spread among several people/groups like the United Way.

No.. it is not the same.. To distribute (your money, for example) is to give a certain amount or percentage to your aunt.. another amount to your brother, etc

To give your money is almost the same.. you are giving your money away to your aunt, to your brother, etc.. you are in the act of GIVING

Thus.. distributing your money (for example) can be also the act ok GIVING it away also but in this case, you are giving it but also distributing it to certain people in certaiin amounts.
