I'm not sure how old you are. You can always be truly regretful, but I can't imagine why you would want to admit it to someone who wasn't close to you. Unless, something you did caused them harm, I wouldn't do it if I were you. Why should you be sorry that they picked on you? No! No one is perfect, but those people suck. Ignore them. Don't give your enemies power over you by exposing your own vulnerability. It might make you a bit stronger, but what you are probably dealing with are people who live for the misery of others. Yes there are people like that, and you can't change them or ever make them happy. Protect yourself, feel your own regret and admit it to no one you don't trust well, and find other friends or activities.
(I'm sorry you are in prison with a silly old skeleton. I was doing that a few days ago too.)

Yes, it is good to admit your regrets. It's important that you not only learn from your mistakes, but that you selflessly give of yourself to others by telling them your story. Your mistakes could be as little as gossiping about someone or as big as having killed someone...it matters not. Having regret does not mean having shame. Many times, admitting your regret to your enemies and those who laugh at you for your mistake is very eye-opening to them. It may cause them to reflect on their attitudes about their own fallibility and on their treatment of you, and will ultimately help them come to have at the very least a healthy respect for you, if not become your friends. Who knows, they might just learn a little lesson from your mistake as well, which is something that we can all only hope for...that our trials in life will not only make a difference in OUR lives, but that they can be useful in the enlightenment of other people.
There is nothing noble about a person who cannot admit their mistakes. Admit them, not with pride, but with dignity and self-love.

everyone's done something silly or stupid that people are bound to laugh at. yes, we feel embarrassed, but if we dwell on it, we get stuck, focussing on that one incident. in other words, DON'T WORRY ABOUT IT.

Forgiveness is a great virtue! You have to learn to forgive yourself, too! Yes, regretting is a virtue, too! But, a word of caution: be circumspect, choose your time and place, be discreet, please!
