I paid £25 for a half hour session in Essex. I did not find it did an awful lot for me, then I got an infection of a needle site and didnt bother going back again. I was told I might need up to 20 sessions so that is quite a heftycharge in all...;

I use a chinese trained doctor. She charges between £15-£25 for acupuncture depending on what she is treating and how long the treatment is. Minimuum would be 20 minutes and up to 45 minutes. I live in a dump on the southcoast though. London i would expect to pay more.
It does work for me. Has done for over 20 years. At the moment it's helping me to stop smoking.
BUT... there is TCM and 5-element acupuncture. The first places their theory in biomedical medicine whilst 5-element theory is as it was practised over the centuries. You can get acupuncture from a qualified gp but don't expect him to know the first thing of 5-element theory. The best acupuncturists will not be watching the clock during the treatment. And will most likely have qualifications from Mainland China (7 years in uni iirc).

How much will acupuncture cost?
A practitioner should inform you about the estimated number of treatments needed and how much each will cost. If this information is not provided, ask for it. Treatment may take place over a few days or for several weeks or more. Physician acupuncturists may charge more than nonphysician practitioners.
Will it be covered by my insurance?
Acupuncture is one of the CAM therapies that are more commonly covered by insurance. However, you should check with your insurer before you start treatment to see whether acupuncture will be covered for your condition and, if so, to what extent. Some insurance plans require preauthorization for acupuncture. (For more information, see NCCAM's fact sheet "Consumer Financial Issues in Complementary and Alternative Medicine")http://nccam.nih.gov/health/financial/

I used to work for an acupuncturist and depending on location prices very. I live in NY and the doctor charged about $160 for the first session which included consultation and one treatment and the treatments there after were $80-90 depending on what he was treating. I would suggest searching the web for acupuncture facilities in your area and maybe even get a list of acupuncturist and call each for price comparison. This way you can ask question like can he/she treat your problem, do they take insurance, and how much is the session....and many other questions.

It varies and depends where you live. I live in London and can get it for £30 for 1/2 an hour.
Most important thing is to check that the person doing it has the correct credentials.
Try the British Acupuncture council to find a suitable practitioner
It does work for many conditions, particularly chronic pain. There is evidence from brain scans that it affects the part of your brain that receives the pain signals. It also cleanses the system.
A friend of mine had it to help with his manic depression. It worked very well but also made him go to the toilet afterwards!

Used a Company called Dr and Herbs in UK - Chinese
Had excellent results, could not walk at one stage but can now
10 hourly session cost me £200, then went back for a further six for £120
Have not been back since Jan 06 - feel much better now no pain in the legs
You need to buy some extras like oils to rub in as well which are very good

You don't say where you are but it mine (UK) cost £30 - 35 per session (about 1 hour). The cost was £50 for an initial consultation which took 1.5 hours and this involved initial assessment and history- taking. I gather the cost varies from place to place (rural/urban practice etc).
The number of sessions you require will depend on the nature of your problem, how severe it is, how long you have had it and many other variables. If I were you I would send for several leaflets from the practitioners in your area and compare their qualifications, insurance and fees.
The treatment I had for tinnitus was partially successful following four sessions. I hope this helps ~RJS

Check here a very effective sciatica natural treatment http://cure-sciatica.info
Normally, I would not answer a question like this as my expertise is generally in medication but I had severe sciatica while I was pregnant with my 3rd child (after having had twins) and I had sciatica so bad that I was finding it difficult to walk. I tried massage therapy and physical therapy and could not take medication
I went to the chiropractor and the pain was instantly relieved. My hips and lower back were out of alignment because I had carried twins the year before. On occasion a Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) can also work but they usually only work on one joint at a time - the chiropractor will do your whole back which works faster. Anyone who does not believe in chiropractors will tell you they are quacks - don't listen.
I don't necessarily believe that chiropractors can cure things like diabetes but they can definitely relieve some types of back pain especially if a pinched nerve is involved which is usually the cause of sciatica.
