Impulse
In classical mechanics, the impulse of a force is the product of the force and the time during which it acts. Although momentum is conserved within a closed system, individual parts of a system can undergo changes in momentum. Impulse has the same units and dimensions as momentum (kg m/s or N·s = Huygens Hy). The impulse of a time-varying force is calculated as the integral of force with respect to time.

Instinct
Instinct is the inherent disposition of a living organism toward a particular behavior. Instincts are generally inherited patterns of responses or reactions to certain kinds of stimuli. In humans they are most easily observed in behaviors such as emotions, sexual drive, and other bodily functions, as these are largely biologically determined. Instinct provides a response to external stimuli, which moves an organism to action, unless overridden by intelligence, which is creative and more versatile. Since instincts take generations to adapt, an intermediate position, or basis for action, is served by memory, which provides individually stored successful reactions built upon experience. The particular actions performed may be influenced by learning, environment and natural principles. Generally, the term instinct is not used to describe an existing condition or established state.
Examples can more frequently be observed in the behavior of animals (most in the less intelligent species), which perform various activities (sometimes complex) that are not based upon prior experience, such as reproduction, and feeding among insects. Other examples include animal fighting, animal courtship behavior, internal escape functions, and building of nests.
It is debatable whether or not living beings are bound absolutely by instinct. Though instinct is what seems to come naturally or perhaps with heredity, general conditioning and environment surrounding a living being play a major role. Predominately, instinct is pre-intellectual, while intuition is trans-intellectual.

Instinct is a reaction to a stimulus based on the 5 senses, without any logic being necessary. For example, if a 40 ton truck is heading your way, you jump out of the way, or if you touch something hot, you pull your hand away immediately. It can also be what is called a 'hunch'; that is, a premonition or feeling that something is going to happen before it happens.
Impulse is merely a rash reaction - once again without any particular logic - to someone's words, or some other stimulus, which was not preplanned or necessarily 'in character'.

They are somewhat related. One of the definitions of INSTINCT is: A powerful motivation or impulse. Definition of IMPULSE: A sudden pushing or driving force, A sudden wish or urge that prompts an unpremeditated act or feeling; an abrupt inclination.
The full definition of INSTINCT: An inborn pattern of behavior that is characteristic of a species and is often a response to specific environmental stimuli: the spawning instinct in salmon; altruistic instincts in social animals, A powerful motivation or impulse.
An innate capability or aptitude: an instinct for tact and diplomacy.
INSTINCT seems to deal more with survival, and IMPULSE with emotion

Instinct in humans is like a reflex; something you do without engaging an actual thought process, like putting up your hand to sheild your face if someone throws something at your head, or ducking, etc.
An impulse can be emotional, physical or simply mental; a snap-decision to act out on a desire or feeling. This can be the urge to snarf an icecream, the desire to give in to sexual feelings and hop into bed with someone, or simply a sudden decision to turn left instead of right, etc.
Impulses *can* be controlled; you can decide whether or not to act on them. An instinct is reflexive and instantaneous.

Impulse is the initial reaction of your body towards something without thinking. Instinct is more of a thought, though it is still an initial reaction.

Impulse is when you act without thinking, like a burst of energy that has no direction. It can carry you away anywhere. Instinct, however, comes from a certainty in your mind. It`s inborn and guides you like your own personal compass.
