I think it's an unfair holiday. When do we get a "White people's holiday"?

Whoa - there's a question that's going to cause some serious flames...
Personally - yes, I am not aware of any historical background for Kwanzaa, and I've read the web page that lists the actual creator of Kwanzaa - "Dr. Maulana Karenga
Creator of Kwanzaa" - a direct quote from the official Kwanzaa website at http://www.officialkwanzaawebsite.org/index.shtml
All other holidays that I am aware of have an historical origin - Jewish holidays generally commemorate significant events experienced by the Jewish people, the same for Islam but in relation to the Prophet.
Most Christian holidays derive from Pagan holidays that Christianity co-opted (Christmas = Winter Solstice, Easter the transition from death to life... - winter/spring)
So - no I don't really think people should be making up holidays unless they commemorate something real.

I think you are jealous. All the holidays ARE made up. They are based on real events, however; as is Kwanzaa. Affirmation of one's value and self worth as well as reaching out to the community and embracing self determination and faith are part of the principals of Kwanzaa. It would do you good to embrace that, so I officially deem you African-American for this holiday season. Get a book or surf the web to learn about the seven principals of Kwanzaa and go ahead and celebrate it. It will make you a nicer person and perhaps even end your prejudice. You've made nasty remarks about Kwanzaa so much I think you just feel left out.

Most people, including some groups want to feel special and one way to do this is to delineate a "special" holiday for that specific group, religious or otherwise and for certain people. Hence we have Christmas, Thanksgiving, Kwanazaa, Hanukah, Mother's Day, Father's Day, Birthdays, just as some examples.
I really do not think one is more absurd or more of a "joke" holiday than any other one, but of course it is ok to think of them in that way. The Jehovah Witnesses as one example, of one group do not celebrate any holidays, or birthdays.

Are you serious to be asking such a question?!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You obviously do not know the true meaning of Kwanzaa! I strongly believe in Kwanzaa and what it stands for, even if I am not an African-American or even close to it. I have three children of my own (who are all in their teens) and a husband, WHITE HUSBAND, and we partake in the Kwanzaa Holiday because we believe in it and my children enjoy the idea of creating things of their own to give to family and friends. I believe that African-American have a right to celebrate Kwanzaa because of all the struggle they have been through. And this is coming from a daughter of a true red-neck dad. I have tried for years to get my dad to understand the history of the African-Americans, but you know what, he went to his grave fighting against them instead. Take my advice, you unintelligent, uneducated person, do your research before you voice yourself!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HAPPY KWANZAA TO YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It is only an Black American Holiday. No where else in the world is this celebrated. I asked around where I currently live over seas and no one ever heard of it. I showed them what it is on the web and they did indeed laugh. They said Americans are too concerned with race and having something that separates people from one another.

Gwazi or Kwanzaa or however it is said was never heard of before 10 years ago . This is the black mans way of trying to compete with Hanukah . The blacks aren't happy with taking scholarships away from the caucasions , they want to take away Christmas , and change it to fit their tribal ideas !!They already have MLK day and we are not allowed to honor JFK .
