Mathematically yes, more than likely though they won't make it. Right now the Steelers hold the 10th seed and are a game and half out of the 6th spot. They need the Jets, Jacksonville, Chiefs and Denver to all lose 2 games a piece, 3 would be better because then the tie breaker is thrown out. Of course the Steelers need to win their remaining games as well which is the Panthers, Ravens and Bengals. It really gets a lot more complicated than what I have just described but there is still a chance.

They are still alive but they need way too much help to make it! Stranger things have happened though like back in the 89 season when the Steelers miraculously snuck into the playoffs in a very similar scenario as they face today. Also, since 1991 only 3 teams in the NFL have started 6-7 and made the playoffs, so it can happen!

Considering the best they can be at the end is 9-7 (they are 6-7 now) I'd say NO. I don't think 9-7 gets you into the playoffs in the AFC. Denver, KC, Cincy, NY Jets, Jacksonville are all at 7-5 now and it seems the 2 wilcards will come from that group of 5.

Mathmatically it is possible. But they need a lot of help. Tennessee has a better chance at making the playoffs. Look at the remaining schedule of both teams.

Pittsburgh plays, @Carolina, Baltimre, and @ Cincinnati.

Tennessee plays Houston, Buffalo, Jacksonville and New England.

Pittsburgh has a brutal schedule. But you can't put anything past those guys.

They are mathmatically alive for the wild card race, but after this season, I think it would take an act of God..

By the way, the city is spelled Pittsburgh....

absolutely not, they have gone soft this year like a bunch of sissies after last years flukerbowl win. We've all seen now that big ben had a lucky year last year and is a prentender not a contender as a dominant nfl quarterback. Plus how can you get into the playoffs when you lose out the rest of your season? Which is exactlly whats going to happen. Then all of the losers in pittsburgh can cry into their terrible towels. Especially when the Bengals manhandle them for the second time this season WHO_ DEY

I don't think so. If this were the NFC, most definitely. But the AFC is loaded with top-heavy teams. They'd absolutely have to win out and with Troy and Hines still hurt, I don't see it.

Mathmatiacaly yes. However 9 wins in the A.F.C will not be enough. If they were in the N.F.C however they would have a very good chance.

They pretty much have to win all their remaining games and have the Ravens lose most of theirs. So no, I do not see them making the playoffs with Big Ben playing as badly as he has done.

Yes, the only teams I heard that have no chance are Detroit and Oakland.
