I am a mature woman, and lately noticed that I keeping looking at old people to see how they are coping with "being older". I have always been a very active and fit person. My husband and I are really social people and are always out and about with friends etc. I couldnt imagine it being different, but I cant see us doing this when we are in a fifties or later. It scares me.

I think getting older alot of people think their lives are over. You should be enjoying them.I work in a Nursing Home and we have residents that are 80-100 years old still doing activities and walking around. They have their minds in contact yet. Some of these people only came there for companionship. The way I look at it ,getting older means we don't have to go through all that young people have to.Trying to find our way in this world we are way we are suppose to be.Retirement soon around the corner. We won't have to work anymore...we have our years behind us so we can ENJOY it .The young have many working years left while we are laying back watching them.Cheer up.It's going to be ok.(Smile)

Most people are quite active very much into their 50's and 60's. My father is 70 and still working by choice.
My grandfather worked longer than that. Also by choice!... he passed away at 89 and was incredibly active until his last year. So what I am trying to say is that there is no reason to think that you will slow down that much when you reach a more mature age.
Not to scare you, but there are plenty of younger people dying every day be it cancer or carwrecks, or what have you. Live life every day, let 50 and 60 be a worry when you get there!!
P.S.My best friend's mom is 80 and is marrying her high school sweetheart this month! She is still active, if you know what I mean..Life ain't over 'til it's over, sweetie!-dd

Getting older should not concern you if you take care of yourself and are active. I know many people well into their 70's and 80's who are just as active as I am in my 40's...some days they are more active. I think it is more a state of mind rather then a real concern. Unfortunately it something we all face. I plan to grow old gracefully and enjoy every moment. I want as many memories now as I can make so I have plenty to look back on later and share with my Grandchildren. We get life one day at a time and nothing is guaranteed to anyone. Enjoy life today...tomorrow is always a dream waiting to become reality. Live each day like it is your last..make the most of it. Good Luck

Hi.
I am in my sixties and I do not feel any older than 40.
If you keep active and take care of your self, you will not have any problem.
I smoked 40 years and I regret it every day because I have COPD from it, and it does effect my breathing but not to the point that I can't get out and have lots of fun.
Now see you have nothing to worry about, now if you quit going and being active you will not do as well as if you had stayed active, keep exercising any way that you can

I just turned 40. I don't look 40, don't feel 40, and definitely don't act 40! Aging doesn't scare me one bit. I look at how the world is going and think, thank God I won't be here in 50 years! I live each day to the fullest and never look back. Keep your mind young and use it every minute of the day. Aging is a part of life but I will not give in to it. Age is just a number. If you give in, it will devour you. Never give up, never surrender!

Sweety, life only gets better as you get older. If you let things like your age bother you, then youre worrying about all the wrong things. Keep enjoying yourself now, and let life fall where it may. Those same "older" people probably had the same fears.

I can REALLY identify with you! I'm 56, and it scares me to death too. I don't want to get old, but I like it a lot better than the alternative, lol. We both have to think positive, and keep active. Good Luck to both of us!!

Get used to it Honey, it's part of life and part of that big plan He has. I used to jump out of planes, you couldn't scare me, I saw my first doctor at forty eight years old.
