The fact that most Politicians are Lawyers has more to do with poor performance. Most of the Lobbists are former Politicos and pals, it would be hard to erase them from each other. All areas of public bonding have caused problems for some and relief for others. I do not mind lobbists pushing for things that help females as I am sure you would not argue against the many lobbists that fought for Indian Affairs. Everyone has somebody at some time doing this.

They'd find a way anyhow.Although it's clear it leads to corruption,we can't prohibit someone from seeing or contacting their elected official and who's gonna check if someone is part of an interest group.
There's no doubt in my mind, interest groups and businesses seeking interest for that matter are destructive for any democratic process but I don't think it's possible to outlaw it.However I do think it's possible to take money out of politics and that would be good.

Is that a rhetorical question?

I don't think there is any doubt that the will of the people is being ignored on a large body of issues due to the influence of lobbyists. But much of that would change if PACs were outlawed and we went to the Fair Tax.

Of course not, they have a right to free speech and participation in the political process just like anyone else. However, offering any gift ( dinner, hookers, vacation, votes in the next election, etc) should be treated as bribary and sedition and any polititian who lets themselves be influenced on the basis of such gifts should be executed.
