Homo sapiens sapiens came from Homo sapiens, the homo who knows that it knows, that's us. Species only evolve when they face pressure from the environment, and humans have fabricated tools to improve their lives, that is to say, some of us wear glasses for example, so superb sight is not favoured over short sight. Some humans don't have vestiges of their other hominid ancestors, like the appendix, or the 4th molars, and all this vestiges will supposedly disappear. Anyway, if the human species is still around when the new ice age comes, it will certainly evolve. The human species isn't really the exception of any natural laws.

Because of the way's society works we are not really subject to the whole "survival of the fittest" thing. It is easier than ever for sick, stupid, old etc (no offense) people to survive. As a result I don't think it's possible for man to really evolve. There's nothing to weed out the "weak" members of the species.

I think it more likely that we will eventually die out. It may happen because of disease. Viruses are still subject to survival of the fittest, now more than ever as medicines improve, and should therefore continue evolving until we can no longer defend ourselves against them. It that happens then the world can go back to operating on survival of the fittest for all species and there will not be any single species replacing Homo Sapiens as a dominant species because different animals will be dominant under different conditions in different places at the same time.

Of course we may just blow everything up before this can happen...

you've in truth requested which got here first, dogs or border collies? Logically, border collies or Homo Sapiens Sapiens, being a branch of dogs or Homo Sapiens ought to no longer predate the wider classification.

Well, if the whole evolution thing is to be believed and what started out as a microbe or germ or tiny little swamp dwelling thing is now a human......then we will either grow into giants...with a view to the size increase...or turn into some sort of thought or energy beam with a view to the increase in knowledge and adaptibility....which sounds more likely?

I would think the latter....why? well no one can see God .......and with the way science is going, we're gonna have to survive radiation somehow..... logical? Methinks too.... Live long....and prosper.

Homo Tele-kinecticus.
Using thought as a way of communicating over long distances. No need for electronic gadgets anymore.
At peace with all races because you could intercept all thoughts or plans of war before they happened.
No need to lie anymore so all Politicians would be out of a job too.

Apparently in about 2000 years we are all supposed to evolve into either an 8 foot tall uber-human or a little troll. I know which one I would rather be.

there was actually an answer to this question in the newspapers, a few weeks ago, in england. scientists believe that in about 10000 years from now we will have evolved into two species: one tall and lean and successful, the other short and fat and not so sucessful. cant remember anything other than that.
