I have noticed that if you ask a white male who they think are beautiful African-American ladies I always get one of three answer either Beyonce, Vanessa Williams or Hallie Berry. Therefore, I have to ask...is there a higher standard of beauty for African-American ladies over Caucasian ladies?

No, it depends on who your asking....everyone like something different. If you think of the "top beautiful women" any race, they are all incredibly beautiful, almost unrealisticly. It is the entertainment (TV, music, etc.) now a days that puts the stero type to look a certain way, for any women of any race. I mean I dont know to many Pam Andersons, J-Lo, Angelia Jolies, ya know.

Besides I think veryone is beatiful in their own way.

I am not sure. but from the three you named and from the statement that white men name these three women more than others could it be possible that it is because they are of mixed origin. Hallie Berry's mother is white, Vanessa Williams has white people in her bloodline. Perhaps that's what they are looking at? I have seen some very beautiful black women who do not appear to have any mixed blood. You're asking men so who knows what they think?

Well I don't think there is a higher standard.

Personally, I like facial and skin tone features of Caucasians, body shape of African women and Hispanic women.
When all these features are in one woman IE Hally Berry, then Wham, instant sexy, beauty, and cuteness in one. Near perfect physical desirable traits. This is my preference, not at all a standard. I consider Selma Hayak just as desirable, maybe more.

So no, they are not held to a higher standard. They just appeal to my taste. Hope this helps.

I dont get your question. And what about Tyra Banks?

It sounds the white males you are talking to value white features on women, because the ones you (they) mentioned have white features. So it's not a higher standard- it's the same standard that white women have, but applied to black women. And black women usually look different than white women.

It is a matter of exposure. I don't think the standard is higher, I think these men just don't know many African-American women.

I think there are so many beautiful black women. So I don't think there are higher standards for black women. But beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
