Buckeye tree are found throughout the United States however they are highly prevalent in Ohio. The tree is a member of the horse chestnut family and the two are often confused. The nut of the Buckeye tree is brown with a creme colored eye. Indians named it buckeye due to the resemblence of the nut to a male deer (buck) eye. The nut is poisionus to humans. Buckeye trees are usually the first to get their leaves in the spring and tend to drop their leaves early in the fall. Some people make a peanut ball dipped in chocolate candy which resembles the buckeye nut and is quite yummy

It is a tree. People who live in Ohio are called Buckeyes. The Indians named the Buckeye nut after its appearance which is much like the big brown turd from a deer Buck. So Buckeyes are big brown turds. This is why Buckeye nuts are poisonous to eat.
