Water is the answer if baby gets constipated but is not a preventative. She is still tiny so you may be over filling her tummy. Some experts say nothing but milk till six months, but that is virtually impossible.
Oh the memories!

My daughter didn't take water very well when she was that age, it's a lot thinner than formula or breast milk. I gave my daughter diluted orange juice to stop her from being constipated and dehydrated. You could try those cow and gate ready made drinks but add a bit of water, they are from 4 months and over so it wont hurt her, she might like something with a bit of flavour. Babies need water, formula is their food.

Please don't give your young infant plain water. It should always be mixed with formula in the proper ratio. There usually isn't a reason to do so and too much plain water will be rapidly absorbed and over-dilute her blood stream causing low sodium levels, and that would be dangerous for her health.
As for her crying, formula tastes very different from breast milk and she probably doesn't like it very much if she's used to sweet breast milk! Also if you haven't introduced a bottle before then she may not take the bottle.

Don't worry about giving her water. She gets PLENTY of liquid from the breastmilk and formula. Water should not be introduced until she is around 9 months old... and if she does not want it then, dont force it.

Never give a baby water until s/he is 6 months of age (unless otherwise directed by your pediatrician for a special condition- check with your pediatrician). While it is true that adults require water and it is one of the most healthy substances we can intake, the same is not true for babies. They get plenty of water from breastmilk/formula and don't need more water until 6 months of age. To give a younger baby more water than what they take from their breastmilk/formula can be harmful. At 6 months of age, you can start offering 4oz/day of water - at this age your baby can handle the additional water and may actually need it, and it's also important to start getting them used to the taste of water - otherwise you might have difficulty giving them water down the line (same concept as starting them on baby foods to get them used to the taste).

Ask your doctor before giving your baby water. Its not good to give babies under 6mths water because it fills them up and they miss the nutrients from that feeding they are skipping. Also some younger babies dont tolerate water well. As long as your baby is eating formula she wont get dehydrated...if she gets constipated then you can get some meds from your dr or give a little bit of apple juice (heavily diluted) to get things going.

I had to give my babies water as they tended to get constipated on formula and they can get thirsty on it as well - you can try putting the water in a beaker so it looks more interesting than a bottle but failing that talk to your health visitor - mine told me to water down the formula a little to get the water in that way and it worked an absolute dream for us.

You don't need to give your baby water right now. The formula has everything the baby needs. The baby is too young right now. Breast milk is the best. She'll be fine. Don't worry

I was told by my doctor not to give an infant water until she's a year old. She has no need for it. You should always talk to your doctor before doing something like that.

actually breastmilk is enough for her. feed her from ur breast directly as long as u r available and when u go to work, make sure that u suck out enough amount for her in her feeds. no need for any artificial baby milk or water. u don't need to feed or give ur baby anything extra be4 her 6th month or u might pass her many problems coz of her sensitive digestive system.
be cool and kiss ur sweet gurl for me :P
