No. Peanut butter is good for muscle building, though. I've never heard of penault butter.

Peanut butter is a complete protein. That means it has all 12 amino acids. When you work your muscles to the point of exhaustion, they will look for protein to build new muscle to meet an anticipated need. Bananas are good for potassium. So yes, they both help.

Although peanut butter and nuts in general are a useful food, and should be part of a balanced diet, peanut butter is not protein-dense. That is, two tablespoons of peanut butter, the amount in an average sandwich, provides about 7 grams of protein. In comparison, the calorie equivalent of turkey in a sandwich offers about 20 grams of protein. Athletes who weigh 140 pounds may need 70 to 100 grams protein per day; 200-pound athletes, 100 to 150 grams. For 100 grams of protein, you'd have to eat the whole jar of peanut butter! Unlikely! You could however, boost the protein value of peanut butter, by accompanying it with a tall glass of milk: a PB sandwich plus 16 ounces lowfat milk = 28 grams of protein, a good chunk of your daily requirement. Milk simultaneously enhances the value of the protein in the peanut butter sandwich. That is, peanuts are low in some of the essential amino acids muscles need for growth and repair. The amino acids in milk (as well as those in the sandwich bread) nicely complement the limiting amino acids in peanuts. So, if you don't have a great love for peanut butter, don't worry too much about it! Bananas, however, contain Vitamins and minerals in abundance, offering vitamin A, a full range of B vitamins, with .07 mg of Thiamine, .15 mg of Riboflavin, .82 mg Niacin, .88 mg vitamin B6, and 29 mcg of Folic Acid. There are even 13.8 mg of vitamin C. On the mineral scale Calcium counts in at 9.2 mg, Magnesium 44.1 mg, with trace amounts of iron and zinc. For this reason, eating one or two bananas each day can only be a good thing for general health, and I do know that a lot of sportsmen favour this fruit.

Yes I do know! I read health and fitness magazines as well. I am also a qualified personal trainer, take numerous supplements, weight train, know plyometrics, study the nutritional content of foods, know most vitamin and mineral profiles of major foods as well, including peanut butter. The answer is peanut butter is good for muscle-building, in fact very good. Here are 3 reasons why:

1. It contians good levels of the human growth hormone-releasing amino acids ARGININE and TRYPTOPHAN. Growth hormone builds muscle and burns fat. It contains good levels of MAGNESIUM, VITAMIN B3, COPPER and ZINC. Zinc and magnesium are essential for the production of testesterone which in turn helps build more muscle. Copper is good for your ligaments and tendons, which is essential to building muscle, because the stronger your joints are, the better you will perform in the gym! Vitaimin B3 helps metabolise fats, carbs and protein which is important in the recovery and muscle growth process.

2. It is a good source of protein, in fact about 20gm to 30gm per 100gm of peanut butter contains protein - check the label for sure!

3. It contains healthy monosaturated fats, and some saturated fats, which are essential to promote testesterone production.

But of course, use it in moderation and only as a spread really, not as a snack, snack on peanuts instead, they are even better for you than peanut butter(fibre content, less sugar, les saturated fats)

Peanut butter is high in protein. People who eat little or no meat will eat peanut butter as a protein source..... So yes, it's good for body building....It is high in fat, so watch how much you eat, or try the lower fat kind. Peanut butter is great if you're on the go and a little easier to digest than meat.
