Your point is well taken.
If my memories are on the target, only America has had few "Man Moon Missions". India and china are goings to have them soon, USA has planed a lab on the moon using a permanent pressurised air condition structure by 2030.
Any country that take this endeavour, is required to think about this most important economic question, from time to time and time and again.
I suppose it is a matter of advancing the technology, nation pride and few other issues......
Man have always ventured in to uncharted water and Indians are no different in this way.
USA has benefited social economically by its space mission, lots of technologies emerged as spin off from space programme that may have remained on the paper as theory only. Indian had their Garooda- Rath conscept but no one knows if they actually flew it, the idea of man on the moon is in human head since time immemorial, but only in 1969 it became a reality.

Indian scientists and politicians have got this latest urge to imitate US and eagerness to display their scientific knowledge to the world.
It is easier to send a man to moon than eliminate poverty and improve the quality of life.
Also, look at your own identity and it speaks a lot about your mentality.

India is fighting with poverty and corruption....
But side by side we do not want to de-moralise our young scientist anyway...
so we let them do what they do...
we believe on them....
thanks...

If people put off exploration until all other problems were solved, then nobody would have ever gone to the Moon.
Or anywhere else, for that matter.
