I have to agree with you as well. I am an engineer, have always loved math and science. I'm also agnostic, I don't follow any organized religion, nor do I plan to. I see many 'leaders' of religions (though not all) as power hungry men using religious words to further their power. George Bush is a prime example.
However, I do know many people who take great comfort in their religion, and use it to keep them on the straight and narrow. Without religion these people would not have a moral compass.

I wish to express an idea. God was before man came to be. There are billions of life forms, planets, comets, Suns and Solar systems and much more than I have time to list. If they or even part of them existed before Earth. Where was God? Certainly not in a house of worship, what the heck is he going to do with some one praying? Where is the minds of people. The arrogance of men created religion and all of the rhetoric that goes with it. There is a relationship. The Guru's, Priest, Monks, Prophets and the like have borrowed from God in the deception of Coding.
Did you know that the Star of David or the Star of India are symbols of magnetic motors. The Yin and the Yang are drawings of mechanisms that are perpetual motion devices. P and the X that the Catholic Church uses is the formula for magnetic anomalies in motoring devices employing electrical energy. The P is polarity the X is the helix the 45 degree slant to the bars that make up the X is the Negative and Positive leads. The Alpha and the Omega is the Egyptian Cross. Each foot of the Omega is either negative or positive. The Bar is the Alpha or the rotor in a motor design. The Christian Cross is the symbol of the compound Magnetite which in crystal form is a Tetrahedron. If you ever held one of these in your hand you will have your ephinany and know why the Pyramids of Eggypt where built in the form of the Triangle which is where we get the Religious doctrine of the Trinity. Three persons in one GOD. Think about it. The Negative & Positve of a magnet. God is everywhere and in everything. God is Electric. Not one thing, not even the smallest of the small, be it dust or gas is, be it not magnetic. Why does dust collect on your computer screen? All matter is the Trinity, it can only be a solid, liquid, or gas or combinations of the three such as plasma. In all mathamatic equations you have to have two knowns in order to solve for the third unknown. E=mc2 energy=mass times the speed of light squared. Magnetite is Fe3 O4. Iron and Oxygen. A solid and a gas. The power of "and" is the helix why can you not make the association that it is the day of rest and the upper case on the 7 on your key board. Do not think that all these coincidences are chance. God uses Religion to teach. Man uses religion for Power. Separate Matter from philsophy, The matterial world is the TRUE GOD.
You are a creation of God, he gave you emotions. Use those emotions in your life here on Earth; but know who God is not what some man wants you to believe. Keep your Faith and take it with you into the after life.

It seems you have pretty well answered your own question.
There's probably a great deal of reason to be grateful for man's
creation of religion. Isn't it fascinating that every nation of people
and every tribe has invented some kind of religion. I would
speculate that it helped man survive in man's darker days.
Now leaders of one institution do not easily give up their
power hold to another institution just because one of them
is right. At this level of scientific enlightenment of civilization,
religion should relegate itself to purely philosophical notions
such as morality, purpose of life, etc. Also, religious leaders
shouldn't be trying to force their ways onto others such
Bush is doing with his Evangelical thrust. It's almost as bad as
Islamic Fundamentalist mullahs who inspire their youth to
commit suicide in their jihad. In fact it is just as bad when you
consider that he's sent more than 3000 young men to their
deaths for his needless war. That's about 6000 parents who
must deal with an unimaginable grief for the rest of their lives. And he keeps on lying about the justification of his war. It's gratifying to me to see that others see Bush as the bastard
that I do.

I think that science is gradually appealing to more and more people and religion is appealing to less and less people at the same time. But, I do not in any way support you attacking people with religious beliefs. That is rude, unnecessary, mean, pointless, heartless, etc. I may only be a teenager with an interest and trust in science as well as a dwindling belief in religion, but even I know that you should not attack people for their beliefs. Please do not insult people just because they believe in a religion. Good luck cleaning up your act.

science doesn't have all the answer's that's why mankind needs philosophy and religion to fill in the blanks even if the theory if god is real or not we all are just children wanting to know where baby's come from. science in the end will find out the meaning of life if that's possible

As Karl Marx so rightly said "Religion is the opium of the people!"
Would you rather trust a scientist or a zonked-out crack-head?

however I'm with you on this one.
esp when it comes to locking George Bush out!

What you fail to appreciate is that throughout history, most of the wars that have killed millions have been started over scientific arguments.
Wait...that can't be right....
