Because smoking surpresses the appetite, so you eat less, therefore lose weight. A lot of people who give up smoking tend to eat more - they pick at foods to substitute cigarettes so will put on weight.

Its psychological. When you give up smoking, you replace the urges to smoke with eating to satisfy your needs. Therefore people think that smoking helps weight loss as you eat less when you smoke.

It doesn't, but quitting can make you put on weight as you will eat more. The craving for a cigarette is remarkably similar to hunger. When people quit the lines become blurred and they just eat loads. I put on 1 1/2 stone when I quit!

When you smoke it helps stop your cravings. So instead of eating chocolate you crave they will light up a cigarette to get rid of the craving.

It does.
Smoking one cigarette can destroy the goodness of up to six oranges. It also suppresses the appetite.
Not a GOOD way to lose weight.
